This 14-day program consists of ten days of intensive Spanish Conversation for junior and senior high school students. You will be given a placement test the first day of classes to allow us to determine the most appropriate level for the course that you select. Classes take place Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You will also attend afternoon activities consisting of visits to parks, places of recreation, museums, historical sites, department stores and monuments Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and evening “tertulias*” from 8:30 pm 10:30 p.m. consisting of a variety of culture activities to acquaint you with social and cultural interests of young Spaniards. You will enjoy approximately four hours of free time every day, have free internet access either by using the school or residence computers or by connecting your laptop (if you own one) to the internet available at the residence in the computer room.
A full time Resident Director and supervisory personnel will be in residence for the duration of the program. They will be providing supervision, tutoring, counseling and all other necessary services as well as accompanying you in all program activities. The Resident Director will meet you at the designated United States airport, travel with you to Madrid, take you to Residencia Universitaria San Lorenzo where you will stay for the duration of the program in Madrid and return with you to the United States at the conclusion of the program.
Trip includes round-trip airfare, housing in air-conditioned double room bedroom, with private bath and three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Also included are school books, once a week laundry service, medical attention, hospitalization and prescriptions insurance, free use of computers, internet access, weekday afternoon activities, Saturday and Sunday all-day excursion and evening “tertulias*.”
Trip does not include personal expenses or passport and visa fees.
You will be required to be in your room no later than 11:00 p.m. A room check will be conducted at 11:30 p.m. If necessary, the Resident Director reserves the right to enter your room and check if you are present.
You will be able to receive calls in your room and be able to communicate with other rooms in the building, but you will not be able to make outside telephone calls from your room. In case of an emergency, your parents or guardians must contact the Resident Director at an emergency telephone number that will be provided to you before your departure to Madrid.
The program begins Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the designated United States airport and ends at the designated United States airport Saturday, July 9, 2016.
The price of the program is $1,990. “Tertulia” is a gathering of persons to discuss daily events, art, literature, history, etc.
