In honor of Star Wars Day we are rerunning our article on a unique source of classroom resources for teachers based on the popular film franchise.
In “Star Wars: A New Hope” Luke is told by his Jedi teacher, Obi-Won Kenobi, to “use the force.” In a galaxy not so far away, however, educators can also use the Force—as well other aspects of the Star Wars universe—to teach their students.
Star Wars in the Classroom is a website for educators and fans alike that provides resources for transdisciplinary teaching and learning with the Star Wars saga.
For nearly thirty years, its team has been integrating the Star Wars saga into history, English/Language Arts and science classes at the middle school and high school levels. From studies in mythology, history, philosophy and the arts, to hands-on experiments in physics and engineering, its mission is to spark learning and the imagination by providing engaging and relevant experiences for students of all ages inspired by the captivating characters and stories from the Star Wars universe.
