Grant for flood relief for Nicholas County schools announced
SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) — Members of West Virginia's congressional delegation are announcing a grant for Nicholas County schools damaged in flooding over the summer.
Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito and Rep. Evan Jenkins said in news releases the $1 million grant comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The school district is expected to use the funds for emergency protective measures for several facilities damaged as a result of June 23 flooding.
The floods killed 23 people and damaged homes, businesses and infrastructure.
