NY sets $43 million round of 'Smart School' funding

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York is set to spend $43 million in a round of funding under the $2 billion Smart Schools Bond Act approved by voters in 2014.

The money will go to 36 school districts for new projects that include $22.8 million for buying classroom technology, $12.9 million for internet connectivity, $5.3 million for high-tech security, and $2.1 million for pre-kindergarten classrooms.

The state budget director, chancellor of the State University of New York, and the state education commissioner approved the projects during a meeting Monday.
