WASHINGTON -- Trusted Health Plan and United Medical Center and will give District Kids a "boost" at a "Back to School Health Fair". The event is being held Saturday, August 8, 2015, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at United Medical Center, located at 1310 Southern Ave SE. The hospital is two blocks from the Green Line. Trusted has many activities for children going back to school, including immunizations, lead and dental screenings, back to school physicals for children and school athletes. Kids will receive book bags filled with school supplies. Students 12 and under get free haircuts. Adults get cholesterol and blood pressure checkups, health screenings, HIV testing, GO-GO dancing, yoga, food and many other activities.
Eligible children three months or greater will receive free immunizations against polio, rubella, measles, chickenpox, whooping cough, Hepatitis B and HIB. Also, the HPV vaccine will be available.
A special guest appearance will be child star Leah Jeffries who plays Lola Lyons on the hit series "Empire." Leah will kick off the Children's Fun land, which includes activities such a game truck, moon bouncing, kiddie train rides, obstacle courses and face painting. Jeffries will sign autographs, take photos and give out prizes.
