LOS ANGELES -- ThinkLA members and guests donated more than 950 toys at the organization's 69th Annual Holiday Party benefitting the Toys for Tots holiday gift drive. The drive was sponsored by ad-tech company AdTheorent.
The Los Angeles advertising and marketing community attended the event in force with over 950 guests arriving during the evening to see United States Marines accepting toys at Unici Casa in Culver City, CA.
In 1947, the "Toys for Tots" idea was conceived in Los Angeles by Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR. The Advertising Club of Los Angeles, now known as ThinkLA, was the first organization to adopt it on a large scale. Since then, the Holiday Party has become a long-standing tradition. ThinkLA, in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps Reserve, makes a difference every year as the second largest toy-collecting drive in Southern California. This year, in addition to the drive held at the holiday party, more than 40 Los Angeles advertising companies are participating in ThinkLA's community toy drive.
"We are always thrilled to collaborate with The United States Marine Corps Reserve and to work together on such an important cause," said Susan Franceschini, Executive Director of ThinkLA. "We are grateful to our 42 or our member companies -- such as Deutsch LA, RPA, Dailey, Chiat Day, OMD and many others -- who ran their own toy drives as part of this effort. Like most years in the past, we aim to collect over 10,000 toys for children in Southern California."
The event was also sponsored by ShareThis, Viant, xAd, Shopkick, Amobee, ownerIQ, Clear Channel, Jun Group, and Loop Me.
In addition to the more-than 950 toys that were collected, ThinkLA was also able to donate 92 lbs. of the event's un-served food to Food Finders, a nonprofit that distributes food directly to hundreds of partner nonprofits, pantries, and shelters that serve the disadvantaged in Southern California.
